CHESHIRE COMMUNITY THEATER

2019 Scholarship Winner

Congratulations to our lucky scholarship winner

†Julia Torello!

Recent Cheshire High School graduate Julia Torello was awarded the Cheshire Community Theater Alvah I. Root Memorial Scholarship. Pictured here with Tracy Peters, Vice President of CCT, Julia received her award at our annual membership picnic. Julia has been on the stage for nine years and played a wonderful Jafar in CCT's 2017 production of Disneyís Aladdin JR. She will matriculate at Syracuse University this fall and intends to major in broadcast journalism and minor in theater studies .

The Cheshire Community Theater scholarship is offered to high school seniors who are pursuing a career in the arts. Since 1978, Cheshire Community Theater has granted an annual award on the basis of financial need and academic performance, with preference given to those interested in a career in the performing arts. Since 1986 the scholarship has been named in memory of Alvah Root, who is remembered with love and warmth by CCT members.
